Our 2nd Year and Even Better!

It's Halloween night - and the last Trick or Treaters left a while ago. Here I sit, updating the Small Town Christmas website. I'm so thrilled to share with you the new events that have been added to this year's activities and events. First, we've added more categories to the Christmas Parade - tractors and ATV's - and most exciting - a new Holiday Hounds Pet Costume Contest and Promenade. I know the folks watching are going to love it!

Following the parade, in the OV Senior Center parking lot there will be a mini Winter Festival for folks to enjoy! There will be hot beverages and cookies provided by the American Legion, hot foods for sale by the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, games, a brand new Santa House where kids can visit the jolly old elf throughout the month of December, a fun "selfie" photo booth and even some Christmas Characters roaming around.

There are two new contests being held this year - the Christmas Tree Wars Competition and the "I Spy" 10 Tiny Mice Contest. You can click on the "More" button on the banner and find those listed along with all the other contests and activities that are sponsored for the community to take part in. These two particular contests were added to help promote shopping local and also to foster a sense of friendly competition as we try to beautify downtown with some wonderful Christmas trees.

The 2015 Events Calendar will be finalized sometime during the week of November 2nd. I will post it as soon as I can. We will have large, glossy color posters printed and posted around town and the surrounding areas by mid-November.

I want to thank all the members of the Small Town Christmas Committee for their hard work. This is a huge undertaking and takes months to plan and organize. No one person could do it all. Building community spirit is what we are all about - and it is an honor and privilege to spearhead this celebration each year.
