The Countdown Begins!

Halloween will be here in no time. Thanksgiving is a month away, and the following weekend after that kicks off our annual Small Town Christmas celebration in Shinglehouse. The STC committee has been working diligently to get all of our ducks in a row. The Schedule of Events is nearly finalized. We hope to have it posted online and out in the community in poster form no later than November 5. All of the contest entry forms have already been updated for this year and posted to the website. Paper copies will go out to the OV Memorial Library in the next couple of weeks.

Some new things this year included added entries to the parade categories, some different organizations judging some contests, the Ugly Sweater Contest will be moved to Pire's Appliances and the Christmas Village will be on display in the middle window of Howard's Home Furnishings.

We are looking forward to more entries in the Christmas Tree Wars contest - which we hope will make our main streets look especially festive this year. The Small Business Saturday committee has expanded the "I Spy" contest and this year will have 20 Tiny Christmas Rats hiding all over town and the valley! Also, there will be a home-based business fair in the OV Senior Center on Small Business Saturday. Be sure to get out and shop local on November 26th!

The holidays are always the most wonderful time of the year. Small Town Christmas in Shinglehouse will be even bigger and better than ever. Our goal is to build community and foster holiday spirit in our town.
